The formation and development of students’ reading and comprehension skills are considered one of the crucial tasks facing education today. When we say “read”, we don’t just mean the rapid reading of the text. Answering questions about the text, connecting the events in the text to life, predicting the text, finding the main idea, etc. are possible through the correct construction of the reading and understanding
process. For the students to understand what they read, they should have a vocabulary base, the ability to break down the text into parts, and the skill of thinking by analyzing events, etc. The article discusses students’ ability to read and understand, its role in the formation, ways of development, and life skills.
